Bruce Pasternack is a Partner at Venrock Associates, he was formerly a Venture Partner at CMEA Ventures in San Francisco, focusing on cleantech energy opportunities. He returned to the Bay Area in 2007, after serving for two years as President and CEO of Special Olympics Inc., a global not-for-profit whose mission is to provide year-round sports training and competition to enhance the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Previously, Bruce spent almost thirty years as a Senior Vice President of Booz Allen Hamilton where he was Managing Partner of the firm’s worldwide Energy, Chemicals, and Pharmaceuticals Practice; its Organization and Strategic Leadership Practice, and its SF office.

From 1992-2000, he was one of the Governors for Energy of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he also moderated several CEO panels on various energy industry topics. He was a frequent participant in the annual Aspen Energy Policy Forum. Prior to joining Booz Allen, Bruce was Associate Administrator for Policy and Program Evaluation at the Federal Energy Administration (predecessor to the Department of Energy), responsible for all energy policy development and coordination in the Executive Branch, including the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975. He served as principal staff to the President's Energy Resources Council and participated in the Camp David Energy Summit. He also was a staff member of the President’s Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) and began his career at General Electric Co.

He has served on the Board of Directors of BEA Systems, Special Olympics Inc., Booz Allen and the Advisory Board of Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. He is currently on the Board of Quantum Corp., Accelrys, Codexis Inc., The Cooper Union (his alma mater), and the advisory board of Jaman.com. Bruce has co-authored two books: The Centerless Corporation, published by Simon & Schuster (February, 1998) and Results, published by Crown Books of Random House (October, 2005). He has written numerous articles in Harvard Business Review, Wall Street Journal, Strategy & Business, etc.
